Photo shoots. To some, those words send a shiver down the spine, taking them pack to the awkward days of school photos. But to others, those two exciting words translate to a great opportunity to just have some fun while getting some creative. I personally fall into the first group, unless I’m getting my picture taken for Instagram.
Editor's Note: Tiff may not love having her picture taken, but doesn't she look adorable here?!

Unlike Adriana Lima or Miranda Kerr, most of us don’t roll out of bed looking fabulous and ready for a photo shoot. It can actually take quite a bit of preparation to look camera-friendly. Simply D and Jules share their tips on how they prepare for their photo shoots, and the steps that they take in order to look their best in their photos.
We’ve all heard this
before, but don’t underestimate how the importance of taking care of your body.
That means eating well and staying hydrated. Your health
will show on your face and on your body, no matter the amount of makeup you
pack on or the Photoshopping you have done; nothing can truly recreate naturally glowing, radiant skin.
“Great skin is always key for
women and men. If you sleep well and take care of your body by eating right and
drinking a lot of water, it will all reflect on the camera, which is something
you can’t fake with Photoshop,” says Jules.
And of course, we can’t forget exercise! Lately, Simply D and Jules have been spending some time in the martial arts studio. I bet you didn’t know that they could kick some butt too, and not just in the recording studio! A combination of Tiger Claw Kung Fu with a little bit of Tae Kwon do and some Aikido, their workout is sure to work up quite a sweat and get your blood pumping. This is key to turning on that healthy glow, on the surface and on the inside.
“When I’m in about to move
forward into something hectic, I try to prepare myself mentally and
physically,” says Simply D. But you don’t have to break
boards with your forehead (ouch!) or know how to grapple your opponent to the
ground in order to look great in your photos, although
that would make for some pretty awesome action shots. What is the real secret to taking exceptional
photos?
A positive attitude and mindset
is what you really want to be going for, which is something that comes from within. “If you feel good, you’ll look good and give off an attitude
that gets captured in the camera. And try to stay positive, and have a positive
mindset, because that also comes across and gets captured on camera,” said Jules with a smile. "Positive people help make photo
shoots better,” adds Simply D.
So the next time you find yourself
attempting to put together a productive and effective regime for an upcoming
photo shoot, remember what you put inside your body is what you end up putting
out, whether it be healthy fruits and vegetables, an hour of cardio per week or
several afternoons a week kicking someone else’s butt in Tae Kwon Do (or
getting your butt kicked instead, which is in my case…). Whatever madness is to
ensue this upcoming weekend is sure to translate into some really amazing
photos, which I’m just as excited to see as you are.
Until next time,
Tiffany
